In high school I was on the cross country team. I was never fast enough to be in the top seven but that didn’t matter much to me - what I loved was time spent outside, the crisp autumn air, the rush of a race and the exhaustion afterwards. In this drawing I tried to capture those feelings along with a sense of nostalgia.
For the original I used ink and a brush for the line work, ink for color, and pastel for expressive details on Arches hot press paper.
